Well we have talked about for a while, but with Al down on his back I decided to challenge him a game of Axis and Allies.  Since he can't move much, but has a laptop we decided maptool was the way to go.

It was not difficult to construct a campaign using MapTool and TokenTool plus some google searching.  Below are three screen shots.  Anyone else up for a game, now that the campaign is built I'm happy to share, just send me a PM.  We only just got started and are half way through the 1st Russian turn when we had to go back to work.

the score card

The battle board

and the game board

I really like MapTool!

There is a very, very good open source java based version of Axis and Allies called "Triple A".

Here's their screenshots page: http://triplea.sourceforge.net/mywiki/ScreenShots
Here's the download/install page: http://triplea.sourceforge.net/mywiki/Installing

You can play against AI's or humans.  If you play against other humans you can either do it hot-seat (share the same computer) or be networked together. They claim their AI isn't very good yet and 6-8 months ago when I last tried it I was able to beat it but it took more than 4 rounds or so. (I don't remember if it was 5, 8, or 12.) Smiley

That is pretty cool Joe.  I will check that out for the re-match.  I'm thinking "warrior nights" or SFB or "Federation & Empire" too.

I love you guys. "Warrior Nights", "A&A", "Excalibur", Gamin' 21st century mode. Simply just brilliant. Thank you. Excluding the arguements. A more civilized and mature approach to good old clean fun. I'm all for it. I don't care who says what, you guy are beautifull. All of you.

If you would like in on the next game, whatever it may be, that would be great!
