Ha Ha Ha Ha!    That is spectacular!  I agree not heroic, but SPECTACULAR!!!!!

I'll add one, not about me, but Al playing Dark Green dude in Warrior Knights.  He had the smallest army and constant money/troop problems the whole game and yet, in the final two turns, won it all while the 2 strongest opponents (Ben & Steve) were distracted with killing each other and of coarse finishing off Dan.  So Al pulled out an impressive victory with the least gold and smallest Army.

OK, this one didn't end well...  I don't remember much about the character but we were in a hedge maze trying to reach the bad guy's castle.  I figured I'd levitate up to find the easiest way out to the maze.  Good idea, right?  Well the bad guy was watching and decided to hit me with a 10d6 lightning bolt.  Now at this point I should let everyone know that I was carrying 4 or 5 greek fires, you know--the ones that combust with air?  I think I saved and that made it so I wasn't killed outright, just knocked unconscious--40 ft in the air.  The fall killed me and to add insult to injury (or death in this instance) my backpack blew up in a very intense greek explosion.

In another campaign in college,  our front line Fighter was low on hp, and the Cleric (me) and other party members were out of commission.  The last party member, the Rogue, stepped into melee in front of the Fighter, allowing him to back off and drink a potion.  He was battered down to near 0 hp before the Fighter got back to the monster; without the potion's benefit we would all have died.

And as I recall, Aither did that for Minsk in my campaign at 1st or 2nd level

In one campaign we were 1st level and ambushing a wagon train that was moving through a cave.  I was the MU, and had cast an illusion to hide us all as we waited.
The wagon train came, and we engaged it; as decided by the leader I hung back to maintain the illusion in case we needed to hide again.  Then one of the wagons popped open and another 5 or 6 men at arms jumped out and now our party, which had been holding our own, was badly outnumbered.  I stepped from concealment, moved up and cast Burning Hands on the new men at arms, burning them all and getting myself surrounded in the process.  The battle continued and I managed to drop 3 of the already weakened men at arms before the rest of the party came to my (now unconscious) aid.

-----------

In an earlier campaign, there were 2 of us that were multiclass MUs.  Lo-to-Barik, F/MU had possesion of an item that would cast a Fireball at will, but temporarily sucked out 2 points of CON when you did so.   I was playing Arden, the F/MU/Th with a low CON.

Our party faced what was known ever after as "The Krogering Monster".  Basically immune to attacks except for fire or energy, it was well over 15HD and had 4 attacks per round for something like 8d4 each.  The KM had dropped our front line fighters and Rogues, as Lot-to-Barik and Arden used all their Magic Missiles and Fireballs against it.  It still came on however; Arden knew that Lo-to-Barik's CON was higher, so pulled his sword and stepped forward to hold off the KM.  In 2 rounds he was down, but the time he had bought Lo-to-Barik allowed 2 more Fireballs to be cast; even so it was very close, as Lo-to-Barik had to stand still to use the item twice more, nearly getting killed himself, before the KM finally died.
If the situation had been reversed the outcome would have been different, as Arden's CON wouldn't have supported 10 points' reduction.

Arden could have just fled to save himself, but stayed and died in the defeat of the KM.

The first Eugene--
Bard, Level 7
Meager HP
9 Strength.
In possession of fly (3rd level spell) and a handy +1 rapier of sharpness.
There were about 6 of us in the party and Eugene the least useful in a fight.  As most parties go, the going got tough and the party split in 5 different directions (Tom J and Russ always were joined at the hip).  The enemies were all undead--everything you could imagine up to and including a MAJOR Vampire, the head honcho, blood sucker extraordinaire--Really a huge challenge for all of us together. (And we wouldn't have all made it, if any!)  I (with my only 3rd level spell, fly) flew up a high underground cliff to, unbeknownst to me, was Nosferatu's hidey hole.  Needless to say, he wasn't happy.  I really didn't have time for my meager supply of 1st and 2nd level spells, not that they would be effective anyway, so I drew my weapon and engaged him.  Somehow, he failed to contact with me (saving me 2 permanent levels, each hit (again, back in the day...)) But in two fell swoops I dis armed him (heh, heh) that's right, apparently vampires are susceptible to having limbs removed by sharp weapons.  Now, understand I could not kill the beast, my +1 weapon (+2 or silver required to cause HP damage) could only turn him into small pieces until his regeneration repaired his issues.  Luckily the rest of the party made it to the battle and "Took care of my light work".

Eugene had the choice of engaging the Vampire or letting it attack the rest of the party (which were engaged with other minions).  He stayed, and luck was with him as he rolled a 20 in two successful rounds, and cut off both arms of the Vampire.  Spell support followed shortly thereafter, and Eugene was carried off the hero.

The best ever-- Ivar the Boneless.
7th Level Fighter. exceptional strength and (because of many deaths, some brave, some-not so much) a 11 con.  HP 39.  The veritable D7 Klingon Heavy Cruiser.  (For those of you who didn't get that:  The D7 can give a great deal of punishment more that it can receive.)  Hopefully Others will be able to add the details that have been forgotten (Death does that, you know).  To sum up:  The party was trapped in between two portcullises as the burning oil began to come through the murder holes directly (it seemed) on Ivar.  He then moved to one of the sets of bars and with a mighty heave lifted the gate up to his waist level.  It was a mighty feat, but there was no time, nor was there a way to secure the gate.  The screams were coming from the party as Ivar shouted out through the burning of his own flesh and lungs, "Run!, GO!!!"  The party escaped with minor burns and other small hurts as the gate crashed down with Ivar's now lifeless husk, burned to an unrecognizable mass of burned flesh slumped to the ground inside the gate.  He was returned to the living losing 9 point of charisma, some of his dexterity and--of course--a 10 con.

Spot on!  As I said, the most heroic act I've ever seen, since Ivar could have saved himself but told everyone to get out even as his HP were burned below 15.

I think it's a lost cause, since all that can be said has been said.  At least it seems that way.
