Overview

You are about to create a character. Relax it is an easy process that involves one 10 sided die, one 6 sided die, a character sheet, pencil, a few lists to review and a few choices to make. The process is described below in steps. Each step will contain links to more information on related topics. There is also a Glossary.

Attributes

Your character is a collection of attributes and skills. The attributes define your physical and mental capacity. Your ability with skills is based on your attributes. To create your attributes, you will need a six sided die (D6) and a 10 sided die (D10).

  1. Create Attributes For each of the following attributes: Strength, Reflex, Intelligence, Willpower and Constitution:
    • Roll one D6 and one D10.
    • Multiply the D6 roll by ten and add the roll value of the D10 to it. In other words if you rolled D6=3 and D10=8, you have an attribute value of 38.
    • Therefore from the die rolls you have a maximum attribute value of 69 and a minimum value of 10.
    • Do not despair if you roll low. You will have an opportunity to boost the low ones in the next step.
  2. Re-adjust Attributes Add up the attribute values you rolled in the previous step.
    • If the sum is less than 255, take the difference and spread that amount among any attribute you wish.
    • There is no maximum attribute value. You could choose to increase an attribute above 69.
  3. Calculated Attributes The remaining attributes: Dexterity, Charisma and Movement are calculated from the first set.
    • Dexterity (Reflex + Intelligence)/2
    • Charisma (Intelligence + Willpower)/2
    • Movement (Strength + Reflex) Movement
  4. Select a Race The selection of race will impact your attributes as the table below shows.
    • Humans have no adjustment.
    • Attributes are re-calculated after race adjustments are applied.

Skills

Understanding Skills This is where you decide what your character can do and is the most complex step in the process. There are three types of skills listed here: Skills Martial, Skills Magical and Skills Other. There are rules to understand in the selection of the skills: Skills Martial, Skills Magical and Skills Other. Use 40 points to start out. It is recommended that you have some degree of specialization in a few skills when first starting out, this will increase your survivability early on. As you play the game you will have opportunities to learn more skills.

Gear

Outfit your character using 200gp to start out Equipment and Weapons.
